What im building is more than a brand, trying to hit the uk with a big bang...

Jigga man tells Women Wear Daily about his race to a billie and his biggest regret with the Rocawear line.

“Dame did a great job when he was here,” Carter said. “I just feel that I have a different way of running things, which I think is working out well. I let people make mistakes, and push them to be creative. I let a design team design. When they feel good about something they have created, it makes them want to do more. It makes them want to do their best. People are happy here. I’m not a controlling manager and I have a great team that makes me confident that things can run well when I’m on the road, and I’m proud of that.”

So, in April 2007, he agreed to partner with Iconix Brand Group, which acquired the Rocawear brand for $204 million in cash. In the deal, Neil Cole, Iconix’s ceo, became Carter’s partner and in turn, Carter was going to help Cole with future Iconix deals.

“I got to know Neil, and we now have the same mission: Our goal is to make Rocawear a $1 billion company,” he said. “It may take us more time than we would like since the economy is in the shape that it’s in, but I’m confident that we will get there.”

One of his biggest mistakes? “We really should have done some Rihanna Rocawear umbrellas when that song became a hit. We could have made a load of money on those. I’m still kicking myself.”

Out and about....

On the 4th of nov i was invited to a gig by the management of an artist called  nneka, the night was fantastic, its started very early unexpectedly,an artist from algeria was her support act and there were world class{a collaboration could be on the cards as i spoke to there management} alot of there songs were not even in english but there were tiring it down the venue which was packed with 98% Caucasian people were loving vibes the funny the two acts had african influences, time was up for the support acts and then comes out nneka{who i had meet early down stairs} screams, cheers etc she was finally here she did about 20 songs i cant remember any of there names expect vip{which stands for vagabond in power its speaks of how the poor feel when there votes and support are not used in special way no matter who they support/vote} and her TOP 20 smash heartbeat was the second to last song WoW it was emotional the started of which a rendition of it with loads of melodies and emotion, then into the full track wow she was fantastic, then her last song was the icing on cake it was emotional and hype at the same time, times up shows done nneka of stage her manager comes on stage crowd are shouting more more the band comes back nneka shortly followers and there we are all getting more than our money's worth what a great night,{i even got to make a cameo on stage} 10/10 nneka is the furture, and as she says africa is the furture...

I've been away for abit which is not very good but alot has been going on both musical and personal, theres been alot of down lately but we gotta stay focused on the prize,i will try my best and keep up to date on here, but all i can say is music is sounding gooding three new tracks, all with different influences we worked on an idie,pop-syth and a kinda rappy pop track thats me and my producer 'Your Opinion' myspace/youropinion, i think the stand out track at the moment is decisions i feel its a great record its got 1 verse and that's it chourus bridge and again etc,its a really weird track and something out of my confrot zone, all i need now is a calvin harris kinda voice and were set,i dont blow my bubble but if we had the right backing top 40 at least or i hope lool...
